As a social and national defense conservative, I look at the election results and I’m hopeful that government-sanctioned aggression on our core values, institutions and standards will suspend, at least for a little while.

Subjecting our military to a wholesale game of budgetary “chicken” resulted in sequestration which has weakened our national defenses giving rise to the threats of rogue actors and nation-states.  I’m not for “big government” but when the only government budget that declined over the last eight years is the budget of the Department of Defense, I have to wonder what Commander would ever do that to his troops?

And the assault on religious freedom has to stop, now.  Would our current president, who is about to issue pardons to felons (or potential felons) from his political persuasion, also consider pardons for the florist in Washington state, or the photographers in New Mexico, or the cake bakers in Oregon and Colorado?  And these are Blue states, Mr. President.

That would go a long way to dress the national wounds of evangelicals and likely do more for his legacy among his fellow Christians, if that interests him.  My sense is this will happen in the new administration anyway.  Why not approach this olive branch proactively, Mr. President?
