Among the more salient statements made during yesterday’s 9-11 Patriots Day observances, was the reminder that “we didn’t ask for this fight” in the war against terrorism. True words indeed. I mean, whoever asks for an attack of any magnitude? But, I’ll take it a step further.

We never asked for this fight for our religious liberties, and businesses, and jobs, and livelihoods.  We never asked to be subjected to bullying for what we say from the Bible.  Pastors never asked to be scrutinized for what they say from the pulpit.

We never asked for Obergefell.  We never asked for public teachers to tell our children and grandchildren the lies that it really doesn’t matter if their parents are married or even of different genders, despite the evidence to the contrary.

We never asked for the government—our government—telling us we had to buy any product, much less something as personal as health insurance.

As conservatives, we never asked for the liberal militants to blame us for so-called global warming, complete and routine enforcement of the laws of the land, literal truthful interpretations of our nation’s history, their inability to achieve redistribution of wealth or to pursue the new liberal mantra of equality of outcomes (spelled “social justice”).  We never asked for a fight with the Democrat party, the Human Rights Commission, the Antifa, the SPLC, humanists, atheists, or name your group who’s blaming us for everything and calling us hate-filled.

As conservatives, we never asked for this fight for Truth after the left’s relentless attack on its relevance, trying to undermine even the meaning of the word “is.”  As we teach in the basic course on this website, it’s for the ability to define what truth is that the left is fighting.  Their allies in academia, government, and mostly in the media stand to gain from the left doing just that.  It’s probably why they’re still at a loss to explain last year’s election results.

For eight long years we were being blamed for everything—”a Christian nation”, “racial discrimination”, “holding on to our guns and religion”, “a basket of deplorables.”  I think most of us finally got tired enough to vote someone like our current president into office.  Why?  Because, we never asked for this fight.
