Sometimes people don’t know what to make of me. I am a retired Air Force officer, and people will often thank me for my service to the country. I am an advocate for social conservative family values, and I’ve been called a bigot on-line, out of touch with reality. Oh, and we just had our house painted. It’s not the “pleasantly beige” or “charcoal” color of EVERY OTHER HOUSE on the block. It’s a nice bright light green color, called “honeydew.”
All of these are expressions of our individual beliefs, rights and speech. I don’t expect to get shot over my house color, but the looks could be priceless. I haven’t seen any yet, but I’ll wave at my neighbors just as I always have. Sadly, I could get shot for advocating for traditional family values, because some of us Americans can’t have that—crime or Constitution be damned.
Here’s what matters to me. On my watch—on our watch—the Church of the Living God will continue to be the pillar and foundation of the truth. The Church will continue to have a voice in the culture when it comes to determining what is truth. Should the Church ever give up its voice in the culture, to help define the culture, as opposed to the culture defining the Church, then I believe it’s all really over at that point. I’ve been so amused by leftists in our country who envision religious conservatives to be the Archie Bunkers of today, when it is they who are turning to me as if I was Edith, and are telling me to “stifle.” Well, here I am. I won’t be stifled and my house will be as green as I want it to be.
Life goes on despite all of the back and forth, and the bullets and the hate and vitriol from all sides in our cultural dialogue. My house is green. There, I said it. Shoot me if you will. But, I’ll still be advocating for what’s right.
This doesn’t mean that sin will cease to be a problem for me—oh, and everyone else. My website reaches out to all on both sides of the culture’s truth divide. Think of it as a strategic defense initiative against Satan’s weapons. Why wouldn’t I want liberals/leftists/progressives to know how to fight the culture war? Satan is our common enemy. They have nothing to fear from me. Here’s what’s on my website: “God doesn’t love me more than He loves you—never has, never will. You can’t find a more level ‘playing field’ than the human condition laid bare before an Almighty God.” And yet, to date, not one liberal has signed up for the free Basic Course on this website.

Hopefully, you and I won’t be shot because of the truth we advocate or the color of our house. But, if we are, then so be it. “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (See Daniel 3:17 – 18)
Sorry, but I won’t be stifled by bullets or hate. And my house is still green.
